Q 1. How do I know that I need a counselling session?

You need a counselling session if you find yourself in any of the following situations:

Q4 In a relationship issue do you need both partners to come for the session?

In a relationship issue, ideally it is good if both the partners come to seek help but many a times it is not possible for various reasons. In that case one partner coming for therapy is better than no therapy. One partner may see the benefit and the other may not see it that way. There can be a change in dynamics of the relationship with therapy by which the willing partner can bring change in the relationship.

Q 5. What is the difference between Psychologist and a Psychiatrist?

Psychologist is a mental health professional who has a degree in Psychology

Psychologist can diagnose and put the treatment plan together.

Psychologist uses techniques to counsel and modify unwanted behaviours

Psychiatrist is a medical professional with medical degree

Psychiatrist provides medication for mental health issues

Psychiatrist diagnosis and treat mental health issues by giving medicines.

Q6. How long does therapy last?

It depends on the complexity and severity of the case.

It depends on the depth of change the client wants to bring about in his or her life.

It depends on client’s readiness for the therapy, motivation to change and continuity in the relationship.
